About
Hey, I'm Jacob.
I'm not a chef. I've never been to culinary school. I can't julienne a carrot with any real precision and I've burned more garlic than I'd like to admit.
But I can cook. And I reckon that's all that matters.
Wooden Collection started from a pretty simple idea: I was sick of scrolling through recipe blogs that buried a 200-word recipe under 3,000 words of someone's life story, and I was sick of buying kitchen tools that fell apart after six months or leached weird chemicals into my food.
So I built the thing I wanted to find — a place where the recipes are straightforward, the cooking tips are actually useful, and every piece of kitchenware is something I'd happily use in my own kitchen. No plastic. No gimmicks. Just well-made tools from natural materials that look good and last.
What you'll find here
Recipes that respect your time. Every recipe on this site is something I actually cook at home. If it takes 30 minutes, it takes 30 minutes — I'm not pretending prep doesn't count. I write the way I'd talk you through it if you were standing in my kitchen.
Kitchen tools worth keeping. The shop is curated, not crammed. Every product is made from natural materials — wood, bamboo, stone, linen, glass — and chosen because it genuinely makes cooking better. I test everything before it goes on the site, and if I wouldn't reach for it on a Tuesday night, it doesn't make the cut.
No-nonsense tips. The Kitchen Tips section is all the stuff I wish someone had told me earlier. How to actually sharpen a knife. Why your onions aren't caramelising. What wooden boards need to last a lifetime. Practical knowledge, no fluff.
Why wood?
There's something about cooking with wooden tools that just feels right. A heavy olive wood board that gets more beautiful with every cut. A set of acacia spoons that won't scratch your pans. A mortar and pestle that connects you to thousands of years of people doing exactly the same thing — grinding spices by hand because it genuinely tastes better.
Wood is renewable. It's naturally antibacterial. It doesn't leach chemicals into your food. It ages with character instead of falling apart. And honestly, it just looks better on your bench than a pile of plastic.
That's not a sales pitch. It's just true.
The short version
I cook simple food. I write about it honestly. And I sell kitchen tools that I genuinely believe in — things made from natural materials by people who care about their craft.
If that sounds like your kind of thing, start with a recipe. If you find a tool you like along the way, even better.
Welcome to Wooden Collection. From our kitchen to yours.
